French railway giant SNCF was suffering from a problem familiar to many procurement functions. The team was able to produce savings and show the figures, but Finance either was not able to recognise the figures or could not relate them to real money generated or increased bottom-line profit. It required more specific and solid financial data, but it did not have the BI tools with which to extract it. Procurement was tasked with finding a solution that could provide the data it needed.
With first-hand commentary from SNCF Associate Director Procurement Performance & Control, this paper shows how a direct line of communication was created between Procurement and Finance using spend management software from Sievo. It describes how the two companies worked in unison to achieve the desired result and how SNCF Procurement came to ensure that all purchasing figures, analysis and performance were translated into Finance terminology to drive better collaboration and decision making.
